Today I experienced my first earthquake. My day started at 5:00 am Nepal time. We were out distributing food to 300 families in the remote areas 3 hours outside of Kathmandu.
We arrived back in Kathmandu and were preparing to go inside a restaurant and get some food. At that time a 7.4 earthquake rocked the Kathmandu Valley.
Yesterday I had prepared a report about how things were settling down. Life was getting back to normal. Well, now 2 million people are outside and fearful about being inside any building. Panic is widespread.
I was videoing the quake when a building collapsed across the street from us. Attached is a video of that destruction. Smoke clouds like this rose up from all over the valley as many buildings crumbled.
People, including me, will be sleeping outside tonight. Pray for safety and pray for peace in the hearts of the fearful.
FAMM is here trying to assist the needy. Yesterday we delivered food to 100 families that should last two weeks. Today's quake hit them the hardest. Destruction on top of destruction is devastating.
Smaller tremors are happening all around. As we go into our short-term and long-term assistance we will need much support to stand with the Body of Christ here in Nepal.
Thank you for your prayers and support.
